TThe EDM world continued its takeover in 2013 with another year of spectacular music. Megastar DJ / producers such as Tiesto and Calvin Harris maintained their status as gods among men. Avicii released an album that at a minimum should be placed in the running for EDM Album of the Year. At a minimum, considering “Wake Me Up” is one of the biggest crossover songs to originate out of the EDM world ever. Armin van Buuren, still the most authentic trance DJ in the game, released several very well received pop oriented tracks. Another young phenom, Martin Garrix, came onto the scene with a monster track. Pop stars continued to get in on the EDM game with the likes of Justin Bieber and Christina Aguilera lending vocals to will.i.am’s “#thatPOWER” and Pitbull’s “Feel This Moment,” respectively. Daft Punk made a triumphant return with an incredible album and the song of the summer. Songstresses Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey lent their transcendent voice to some sick tracks.
